Joanne Perkins dedicated her career to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of emergency response systems, ensuring that public safety communications in Iowa were always at the forefront of innovation and reliability. Her passion for excellence and her willingness to share her knowledge made her a beloved figure among her colleagues. Joanne's life and career were tragically cut short, but her legacy lives on through this scholarship, which continues to support the values she held dear.

In their honor, the Iowa APCO chapter established this scholarship to continue their legacy of fostering professional development and excellence in public safety communications. This scholarship allows current Iowa APCO members to attend the Annual Spring Conference, providing them with the opportunity to expand their knowledge, network with peers, and further their careers in public safety communications.
